Account Deletion
If you decide to close your MessageFuture account, you can schedule it for deletion from the Settings page. Deletion is not immediate – a 30-day grace period gives you time to change your mind before anything is permanently erased.
Web only: Account deletion is currently available exclusively through the web dashboard. Mobile app users who need to delete their account should sign in at app.messagefuture.com and follow the steps below.
Before You Delete
Consider the following before scheduling deletion:
- Export your data first. Once deletion completes, your data cannot be recovered. Download a copy of your messages, Twins, and contacts beforehand – see Data Export →.
- Cancel scheduled messages if needed. Any scheduled messages will be cancelled as part of the deletion process. If you want specific messages to still be delivered, cancel the deletion or move those messages’ delivery dates forward.
- Notify your Guardians. Anyone who is a Guardian for one of your messages will lose access to those messages when your account is deleted.
How to Schedule Account Deletion
- Go to Settings → Data & Privacy (web)
- Scroll to the Delete Account section and click Show Deletion Options
- Enter your current account password to confirm your identity
- Click Schedule Deletion
- Read the warning carefully – it details exactly what will be permanently erased
- Click Schedule Deletion again to confirm
Your account is now scheduled for permanent deletion in 30 days. You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging the request.
The 30-Day Grace Period
During the 30 days following your deletion request:
- Your account remains fully functional – you can still log in, view messages, and use all features
- Your scheduled messages will continue to operate normally until the deletion date
- You can cancel the deletion at any time by simply logging in and going to Settings → Data & Privacy → Cancel Deletion
If you do nothing for 30 days, the deletion proceeds automatically.
What Is Permanently Deleted
After the 30-day grace period, the following is permanently and irreversibly erased:
| Data | Deleted |
|---|---|
| All messages (drafts, scheduled, timeless, delivered) | ✅ |
| All media files (images, audio, video) | ✅ |
| All contacts | ✅ |
| All AI Twins and conversation histories | ✅ |
| All Guardian assignments | ✅ |
| All credit balances and transaction history | ✅ |
| Your profile and account credentials | ✅ |
| Any active subscription | ✅ (cancelled automatically) |
There is no recovery path after 30 days. If you believe you may want your data in the future, download an export before the grace period ends.
Cancelling a Scheduled Deletion
To cancel a pending deletion:
- Sign in to your account at app.messagefuture.com
- Go to Settings → Data & Privacy
- A banner will show that your account is scheduled for deletion
- Click Cancel Deletion
The scheduled deletion is removed immediately and your account returns to normal status.
After Deletion Completes
Once deletion finalises:
- Your email address is released and can be used to create a new MessageFuture account
- Any recipients who were expecting scheduled messages from you will not receive them – no notification is sent to them explaining why
- Any Guardians you had assigned will lose access to all guarded messages
