Blocking a Sender

If you receive a message from someone you don’t want to hear from again, you can block them directly from the received message. Blocking is immediate, silent, and fully reversible.

How to Block a Sender

  1. Open the received message in your Inbox (web or mobile)
  2. In the message detail view, find the sender options:
  3. Web: Tap the action menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of the message
  4. Mobile: Tap the options sheet button at the bottom of the message detail screen
  5. Select Block Sender
  6. Read the confirmation prompt explaining what blocking will do
  7. Tap Block to confirm

The sender is immediately added to your block list.

What Blocking Does

EffectDetails
Future messages suppressedAny new messages this person sends you will not appear in your inbox
Existing messages unaffectedMessages already in your inbox from this sender are not removed
Sender is not notifiedThe person you block receives no indication that they have been blocked
Guardian assignments unaffectedIf the blocked person is also a Guardian on any of your messages, blocking them does not revoke their Guardian status – you must do that separately if needed

Viewing Your Block List

To see all users you have blocked:

  • Web: Go to Settings → Security → Blocked Users
  • Mobile: Go to Settings → Blocked Users

Each entry shows the sender’s name, their email address (if known), and the date you blocked them.

Unblocking a Sender

To unblock someone:

  1. Go to your Blocked Users list (see above)
  2. Find the person you want to unblock
  3. Tap Unblock
  4. Confirm the action

After unblocking, new messages from that person can appear in your inbox again. Messages that were suppressed while they were blocked are not retroactively delivered.

Difference Between Blocking and Revoking a Guardian

These are two separate actions:

ActionWhat it does
BlockPrevents future messages from appearing in your inbox. Does not remove any Guardian role.
Revoke GuardianRemoves a person’s Guardian access to your messages. Does not block their messages.

If you want to both stop receiving messages from someone and remove their Guardian role, you need to do both actions separately. See Revoking a Guardian →.
