Managing Your Twins
This article covers everything you can do with a Twin after it has been created – editing its details, duplicating it, deactivating it, and permanently deleting it.
Editing a Twin
You can update almost every aspect of a Twin’s configuration at any time, even after it has been activated and shared.
What you can edit
| Field | Editable? |
|---|---|
| Display name | ✅ Yes |
| Description | ✅ Yes |
| Role / Relationship | ✅ Yes |
| Personality traits | ✅ Yes |
| Phrases & sayings (Catchphrases) | ✅ Yes |
| Core values | ✅ Yes |
| Advice style | ✅ Yes |
| Boundaries (Topics to avoid) | ✅ Yes |
| Main Instructions (Golden Rules) | ✅ Yes |
| Status (Active / Draft) | ✅ Yes |
How to edit
- Open the Twin’s profile from Dashboard → Twins
- Tap Edit Twin
- Update any fields
- Tap Save Changes
Changes take effect immediately. The next conversation with the Twin will reflect the updated personality and instructions.
Note: Editing a Twin does not affect its conversation history. Past conversations remain as they were.
Duplicating a Twin
Duplicating creates a full copy of a Twin – with all its settings and instructions – as a new draft Twin. The duplicate is independent of the original; changes to one do not affect the other.
When to use it
- You want to create a variation of an existing Twin (e.g. a version with different boundaries or a different advice style)
- You want to experiment with changes without affecting an active Twin that is already shared with others
How to duplicate
- Open the Twin’s profile
- Tap Duplicate (or the copy icon in the options menu)
- The duplicate appears in your Twins list as a draft
The duplicate must be activated separately (requires going through the consent step) before it can be chatted with.
Deactivating a Twin
Deactivating a Twin sets its status to draft. A deactivated Twin:
- Cannot be chatted with
- Does not appear in the Twins list of people it has been shared with
- Retains all its settings and conversation history
To deactivate a Twin:
- Open the Twin’s profile
- Tap Deactivate (or change the status toggle to Draft)
To reactivate, open the Twin and tap Activate – no need to go through the questionnaire again.
Deleting a Twin
Permanently deleting a Twin removes it and all associated data from MessageFuture.
What is deleted
- The Twin’s name, description, and all personality settings
- The base prompt and main instructions
- All conversation history (every message in every conversation)
- All active access grants (shared access for all recipients and guardians is revoked immediately)
How to delete
- Open the Twin’s profile
- Tap Delete Twin
- Read the confirmation warning carefully
- Type the Twin’s name to confirm (this prevents accidental deletion)
- Tap Permanently Delete
This action is irreversible. Deleted Twins and their conversation history cannot be recovered. If you are unsure, deactivate the Twin instead.
Viewing Conversation Statistics
Each Twin’s profile page shows a live activity summary:
| Stat | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Total conversations | All-time number of separate chat sessions |
| Total messages | All-time number of individual messages exchanged |
| Messages last 24h | Chat activity in the past 24 hours |
| Messages last 7 days | Chat activity in the past week |
These stats are useful for understanding how actively a shared Twin is being used by the people you’ve shared it with.
