What is an AI Twin?
An AI Twin is an AI representation of a person – yourself, a parent, a mentor, a partner, or anyone whose presence and wisdom you want to preserve. Once created, your AI Twin can have real conversations with the people you share it with, speaking in a way that reflects the personality, values, and voice of the person it represents.
The Core Idea
MessageFuture AI Twins are not generic chatbots. They are built from your words: the phrases you use, the things you care about, the way you give advice, and the topics you’d rather not discuss. The result is a conversational AI that feels personally familiar to the people who knew the real person.
Twins are designed for the long term – for conversations that can happen years or decades after they are created.
What a Twin Can Do
- Have open-ended text conversations on almost any topic
- Give advice and share perspectives in the style of the person it represents
- Respond warmly and personally to questions about life, decisions, and memories
- Maintain a consistent voice across many conversations over time
What a Twin Cannot Do
- Claim specific memories of real events unless those events are described in its setup
- Guarantee it will respond exactly as the real person would
- Access real-time information (news, dates, external data)
- Send messages, make calls, or take actions outside the chat interface
The AI Disclosure Rule
MessageFuture AI Twins are required by design to disclose that they are an AI if sincerely asked.
If someone in a conversation genuinely wants to know whether they are speaking to a real person or an AI, the Twin will clearly state that it is an AI representation – not a real person. This rule is built into every Twin’s base prompt and cannot be overridden.
Who Can Create a Twin?
Any MessageFuture user can create an AI Twin. You can create Twins of:
- Yourself – to leave a conversational presence for loved ones
- A parent or grandparent – to preserve their wisdom and personality
- A mentor or close friend – to share their perspective with others
- Any person – with their knowledge and consent (see AI Twin Consent & Data Policy)
How It Works (Simply)
When you create a Twin, you go through a guided questionnaire that captures:
- The person’s name and your relationship to them
- Their personality traits
- Characteristic phrases and sayings
- Their core values
- How they give advice
- Topics they’d prefer to avoid
This information is used to build a base prompt – a private set of instructions that shapes every response the Twin gives. The base prompt is stored securely and is never shared with the people who chat with the Twin.
Privacy and Data
Your Twin’s content is stored securely in your account. The people you share a Twin with can chat with it – but they cannot see its underlying instructions, personality settings, or setup data.
MessageFuture does not use your Twin’s content for global model training. Your data is yours.
