Chatting with an AI Twin

Once an AI Twin has been created and activated, you – and anyone you share it with – can have real conversations with it. This article explains how to start a chat, what to expect from the Twin’s responses, and how conversations are tracked.

Finding a Twin to Chat With

Twins you own

Go to the Twins tab (mobile) or Dashboard → Twins (web). Your Twins are listed here, each showing its name, role, and status. Tap any active Twin to open its profile, then tap Chat (or Start Conversation) to begin.

Twins shared with you

Twins that other users have shared with you also appear in the Twins list – they are marked with a small Shared badge. You interact with shared Twins in exactly the same way as your own.

Starting a Conversation

Tap Chat on any active Twin to open the chat interface. Each session is a fresh conversation. Previous conversations are saved and can be accessed from the Twin’s conversation history (see below).

Draft Twins cannot be chatted with. A Twin must have active status before a conversation can begin. If you see a Twin with a draft badge, complete its setup and activate it first.

Sending Messages

Type your message in the input field at the bottom of the chat screen and tap Send.

Message length limit: Each message you send is capped at 2,000 characters. If your message exceeds this limit, the send button will be disabled and a character counter will highlight the overrun in red.

There is no limit to the number of messages in a conversation.

How the Twin Responds

The Twin’s replies are generated by the MessageFuture AI engine, guided by the Twin’s base prompt (personality, values, advice style, catchphrases, and any main instructions set during creation).

Response format: The Twin always replies in plain conversational text – no markdown, no bullet points, no bold or italic formatting, no headers, no special symbols. Just natural sentences, as a real person would speak.

Response length: Responses are conversational in length – typically a few sentences to a few paragraphs. The Twin won’t give one-word answers, but it also won’t write essays unless the question calls for it.

The AI disclosure rule: If you sincerely ask the Twin whether it is a real person or an AI, it will clearly state that it is an AI representation. This behaviour is enforced in every Twin’s configuration and cannot be changed.

Conversation History

Every conversation is saved automatically. To review past conversations:

  1. Open the Twin’s profile page
  2. Tap Conversation History (or scroll to the history section)
  3. Select a past conversation to read through it

Conversations are listed in reverse chronological order (most recent first).

Conversation Statistics

Each Twin’s profile page shows usage statistics:

StatWhat it shows
Total conversationsAll-time number of separate conversations started with this Twin
Total messagesAll-time number of individual messages exchanged
Messages in last 24hActivity in the past day
Messages in last 7 daysActivity in the past week

Tips for Getting the Best Results

  • Be specific – the more context you give the Twin, the more personal its response will be
  • Ask open-ended questions – the Twin is designed for reflective, conversational exchanges, not yes/no answers
  • Use it as the person would want – if the Twin represents someone who loved storytelling, ask it to tell you a story; if it represents a mentor, ask for advice
  • Don’t expect perfect recall – the Twin does not have memories of real events unless those events were described during setup
